ABOUT US

History
We have just finished our 66th year and we can report that Bingley Camera Club is still going strong with the number of members again increasing from last year to approaching 50 at the moment. We are proud to say our current Secretary is a third generation member.

Initially established in April 1951 under the name ‘Bingley & District Photographic Society’, the meetings originally took place above the Co-op in Crossflatts and had a very practical slant, even boasting its own dark-room.

The society was later re-established five years on in 1956 by then Chairman Bill Hirst, changing both the name and the format of the then thirty-nine strong group, as ‘Bingley Camera Club’ became an evening affair as it still remains.

Membership did dwindle a few years ago but we have now re-established the Club as one of the largest in the area and we are improving the level of photography all the time.

FAQs
Q Do I need expensive equipment?
A Definitely not! The person taking the photographs is much more important than the camera.

Q I'm a beginner. Would I be welcome?
A Certainly. We always like to meet new photographers who share our enthusiasm. We have beginners' trophies for those who have never won a competition in our club, so who knows, you might be putting silver on your sideboard! We're actively looking for new members and it doesn't matter what level of experience you have.

Q How much does it cost?
A Our annual subscription is £40. For students under 21 in full time education the subscription is £10
Our meetings are held on a Monday evening in the downstairs room at CHURCH HOUSE, OLD MAIN STREET, BINGLEY. There is car parking on the roads around the Church. Entrance is on the side of the building.
